How did Enoch walk with/please God (v. 5)? How can we walk with/please God? By faith
In the 2 statements about faith (v. 6), we can see 4 realities about God that we are to have confident and assured knowledge of:
1) We acknowledge God's existence: "He exists."
- God is real
- God is present with us
2) We meditate on God's character: "He exists."
- If your thinking about God does not match his character revealed in the Bible, then you’re worshipping an idol.
3) We accept God's posture toward us: "He rewards" not "He condemns"
- By faith in Christ we are pleasing to God.
- Without faith in Christ we are still in our sin and remain condemned.
4) We enjoy God's promises: "He rewards those who seek him"
- God does not repay according to our works
- God does reward
- Ultimately, God himself is the Reward
As we believe, we draw near to God in prayer and worship.
Conclusion: In Christ, we have the privilege of a restored relationship of loving fellowship with God. By faith, we can live a life that is pleasing to God, as Enoch did.
