Hebrews 13:17-19

1. Who are the leaders in the church?

• Christ is the Head of the church
• Biblical qualifications elders
• Biblical roles/responsibilities of elders

2. How did they become leaders?

• A calling by Christ
• A personal desire to serve
• A recognition of character and gifts by the congregation
• A submission to the examination and training of existing elders
• Ordination to the ministry of eldership
• Summary: Jesus Christ through his Word active in the lives of his people calls men to be elders.

3. How are we to respond to biblical church leadership?

• Obey them
• Submit to them
• Pray for them

4. Why are we to respond this way?

• As unto Christ
• In response to their care
• For their joy in leadership
• For our own spiritual good
